Who is OMNi-LOGiC® APPLE PECTIN suitable for?
Our intestinal bacteria have numerous tasks, predominantly involving digestion. But the intestines also play an important role in achieving our feel-good weight: if this is not achieved through calorie control or exercise, then perhaps the cause lies in our intestinal flora. All our intestinal bacteria can be divided into two large groups: the so-called Bacteroidetes and the Firmicutes.
The Bacteroidetes are useful for getting into shape as they can actively isolate excess sugar and excrete it from the intestine. Normally, Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes are present in the intestine in a balanced ratio. In overweight people, however, the intestinal flora is often out of balance and the bacterial group of Firmicutes strongly predominates. The ratio can be shifted up to 2,000 : 1. The intestine then contains 2,000 times more Firmicutes than Bacteroidetes!
Firmicutes have the special property that they can break down food components that are actually indigestible for humans (namely the so-called dietary fibre and complex carbohydrates). This creates many easily digestible carbohydrates in the intestine - many more than in an intestine with an optimal bacteria ratio - which are absorbed in addition to the calories eaten. This "hidden" intake can easily add up to an extra 200 calories a day - making the path to a better appearance more difficult.
In addition, the shift in bacterial ratios - towards the Firmicutes - can take on a life of its own: The more carbohydrates (e.g. sugar, pasta, etc.) are eaten, the more comfortable the Firmicutes feel and the better they can multiply in the gut.
